Local Rules Withernsea Golf Club

LOCAL RULES

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)

    (a) In or beyond all hedges, beyond fences and white posts marking the boundary of the course.

    (b) The pond when playing holes 6 and 15.

    (c) Beyond the white posts to the left of holes 6 and 15 when playing those holes.

    (d) The car park, the clubhouse patio, on or over the practice putting green.

2. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)

    (a)Yellow penalty areas marked with yellow stakes.

    (b)Red penalty areas marked with red stakes.

3. INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE

All bridges within the bounds of a hazard and electricity pylons, are integral parts of the course. The ball must be played as it lies, or relief taken under penalty in accordance with rule 16.1b

The part of any bridge falling outside of the Penalty Area are classed as immovable obstructions and relief may be taken without penalty (Rule 16)

4. PATHS

All paths on the course [excluding bridges], are treated as immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.

5. BALL ON WRONG PUTTING GREEN

For the purpose of rule 13.1F the putting green of the 13th hole includes the surrounding humps and the area contained within them, plus the apron to the front of the green.

6. OVERHEAD CABLES

If it is known or virtually certain that a player's ball hit a power line within the course boundary, the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made.

7. MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS

All stakes (except OOB markers) and ropes are moveable obstructions

8. OUT OF BOUNDS MARKERS

Boundary objects are treated as immovable even if they are movable or any part of them is movable (see Rule 8.1a). Relief without penalty is not allowed.

During play of holes 6 and 15 the left hand side of the hole defined by white stakes is out of bounds.

These stakes are boundary objects during the play of holes 6 and 15. For all other holes the are movable obstructions

9. PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES

Young trees identified by stakes or rabbit guards are no play zones;

If a players ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it touches such a tree or the tree interferes with the player’s stance or intended swing, the player must take relief (Rule 16.1f)
